INTERNATIONAL POSTGRADUATE SEMINAR ON AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY 2025 (I-PSAF2025): TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS IN SUSTAINABILITY

On 28th August 2025 to 29th August 2025, the Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia Sarawak organized a two-day hybrid seminar under the International Postgraduate Seminar on Agriculture and Forestry 2025 (I-PSAF2025) with the central theme Technological Innovations in Sustainability. The I-PSAF2025 commenced with an official Opening Ceremony officiated by the Deputy Dean Research Funding and Post Graduate Studies, Associate Professor Dr. Juriah Binti Kamaludeen. In her welcoming remarks, the Dean highlighted the significance of the seminar as a platform for postgraduate students and researchers to present their latest findings, exchange knowledge, and foster collaborations across disciplines.

The highlights of the I-PSAF2025 were the keynote address delivered by Dr. Tolulope Adebowale from Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tantawan Pirak from the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. The first keynote speaker, Dr. Adebowales focused on the research centres on sustainable livestock nutrition, with particular emphasis on innovative feed resources, valorisation of agricultural by-products, and improving the efficiency of poultry, fish, and rabbit production systems. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tantawan Pirak address emphasized the importance of adopting a circular economy approach in the food and agro-industry by transforming food processing by-products into value-added products.

The first day seminar held virtually enhanced awareness of cutting-edge technologies and their relevance in sustainable agriculture and forestry, strengthened collaboration among postgraduate researchers across institutions and countries, identified research gaps and opportunities for technological applications in improving productivity and environmental resilience. In addition, the seminar fostered a multidisciplinary perspective in addressing sustainability challenges. Renowned expert delivered keynote addresses on topics such as precision agriculture, smart forestry management, biotechnology for sustainable crop improvement, renewable energy in agriculture, and digital platforms for sustainable supply chains.

The second day of the International Postgraduate Seminar on Agriculture and Forestry 2025 (I-PSAF2025) continued on 29th August 2025 at the Putra Smart Classroom, Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences. Participants had the opportunity to explore a wide range of interesting topics on technological innovations through both oral presentations and poster presentations. The poster presentation session on the second day of the I-PSAF2025 showcased innovative postgraduate research addressing sustainability challenges in agriculture, food science, and environmental management.

To recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions, the organizing committee arranged awards for the Best Poster Presentation and Best Oral Presenter. The winners, selected by a panel of evaluators based on criteria such as originality, clarity of presentation, and potential impact. The I-PSAF 2025 successfully gathered 50 attendees, comprising postgraduate students, researchers, and academicians from various institutions. Their active participation enriched the discussions and strengthened the seminars role as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Closing Ceremony of the I-PSAF2025, graced by the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Associate Professor Dr. Noorasmah Binti Saupi. In her address, the Dean expressed his deep appreciation to all participants, presenters, and organizers who contributed to the success of the seminar. She highlighted that IPSAF has served as an important platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and academic collaboration among postgraduate students and researchers from diverse backgrounds.
